Tempdent recognised as Strong Standard provider in latest Ofsted inspection

We are proud to announce the outcome of Tempdent’s recent Ofsted inspection, completed in February 2026. The report highlights that we are operating at a Strong Standard, with particular praise for our ‘Leadership and Governance’, ‘Curriculum Teaching and Training’, and ‘Achievement’ areas. Ofsted recognised our clear strategic focus, strong employer partnerships, and commitment to continuous improvement, factors that together contribute to excellent outcomes for our learners.
Our inspection result reflects the quality and dedication that sit at the heart of Tempdent. Under Ofsted’s previous grading system, this outcome would have aligned with a move from “Good” to “Outstanding”, illustrating the exceptional learner experience and high-quality provision we continue to deliver across the dental sector.
Excellence recognised across our provision
Ofsted inspectors praised several key areas of our work, noting:
- Strong and effective leadership and governance, with a clear strategic direction.
- High-quality training, enabling apprentices to develop the knowledge and skills required to thrive in the dental profession.
- Substantial progress made by apprentices, evidenced through the quality of their work and their readiness for employment.
- A positive and inclusive learning culture, ensuring that all learners, including those with additional needs, are supported to achieve their goals.
- A strong safeguarding environment, where learners feel safe, valued, and well supported.
This recognition reflects the collective commitment of our teams, the dedication of our apprentices, and the trusted partnerships we hold with dental practices and employers across the sector.
A message from our CEO
“We are incredibly proud of the outcome of our recent Ofsted inspection. Being recognised as operating at a Strong Standard represents a significant step forward for Tempdent. Under Ofsted’s previous grading system, this would be considered a move from ‘Good’ to ‘Outstanding’, reflecting our focus on quality and exceptional learner experience.
This achievement is a testament to the dedication of our colleagues, the commitment of our apprentices, and the strength of our employer partnerships across the dental sector. We remain focused on continuous improvement and on delivering best in class training that supports our learners to succeed and progress in their careers.”
— Lorraine Nadel, CEO, Tempdent
Understanding Ofsted’s new judgement system
Ofsted has introduced a revised inspection framework, moving away from a single overall grade and instead assessing providers across a series of core areas such as:
- Leadership and governance
- Quality of education and training
- Achievement and outcomes
- Inclusion and support
Each area is now judged against a five‑point scale:
- Exceptional
- Strong Standard
- Expected Standard
- Needs Attention
- Urgent Improvement
This shift provides a more transparent and detailed view of performance, offering learners and employers a clearer understanding of the strengths and priorities within each provider.
Tempdent’s Stong Standard result demonstrates that we are performing above the expected level in the areas that matter most to learners and employers.
Looking ahead
We remain entirely committed to delivering outstanding training, supporting our apprentices to progress into meaningful careers, and working closely with employers to strengthen the dental workforce nationwide. We are exceptionally proud of this result and grateful to everyone who contributed to it.
