What is an Apprenticeship?

An Apprenticeship is a job with training allowing you to earn while you learn and gain a nationally recognised qualification.

At Tempdent we’ve been running Dental Nurse Apprenticeships for nearly 25 years and with some of the highest success rates in the industry we can help you to get started in your career in the Dental profession.

If you’re over the age of 16, eligible to work in the UK and not currently in full time education you will be able to join our Dental Nurse Apprenticeship. Before you can begin your Apprenticeship, you must have a job in a dental practice, ideally working a minimum of 30 hours (including 6 hrs of study). Tempdent can help you find a job in a suitable practice and support you every step of the way. The Apprenticeship qualification is a Level 3 Apprenticeship and takes approximately 18 months to complete. Your qualification is FREE, the Government and your employer covers your training costs.

Tip: Vaccinations

  • To work as a dental nurse all practices require that you are vaccinated against hepatitis B.
  • This usually involves having 3 injections spread over the course of 4 months.
  • Usually it costs £40 per injection totalling £120, these must be paid for by yourself.
  • These vaccinations are normally available via your GP.
  • We recommend doing these as soon as possible, as some practices will not interview apprentices unless they’ve had had their 1st injection.
