Complaints Handling
This CPD aims to help you understand how to handle complaints, both effectively and efficiently. This includes understanding why and when complaints are more likely to occur, what to do when it happens and how to try and avoid them happening in the first place.
Outcomes
This module will help you to:
- Effective communication with patients, the dental team and others across dentistry, including when obtaining consent, dealing with complaints, and raising concerns when patients are at risk.
- Effective management of self and effective management of others or effective work with others in the dental team, in the interests of patients providing constructive leadership where appropriate.
- Maintenance and development of your knowledge and skills within your field(s) of practice.
- Maintenance of skills, behaviours and attitudes which maintain patient confidence in your and the dental professions and put patients’ interests first.
Aims
In this module the main focus is on handling complaints, both effectively and efficiently. This includes: Understanding why and when complaints are more likely to occur, what to do when it happens and how to try and avoid them happening in the first place. Identify the type of complaints that can occur in the dental practice. List and describe the steps to take when a complaint arises. Name the organisations that can assist or manage complaints handling.
