Outcomes

This module will help you to:

  1. Know the history and properties of radiation and how x-rays interact with matter
  2. Know what natural and man-made background radiation is
  3. Be aware of Compton scatter and photoelectric effect and be able to differentiate between them
  4. Know the biological effects that radiation can have on the human body
  5. Know the different interactions that x-rays have with human tissues with both indirect and direct damage

Aims

The aim of this module is to provide understanding of the importance of radiation by understanding ionising radiation and the effects it has on the human body.

This CPD module provides you with 2 hours GDC verifiable CPD.

This module relates to GDC development outcome C.

This module forms part 1 of 4 of your IR(ME)R17 update. All modules must be completed in order to achieve a full IR(ME)R update.
