The aim of this CPD is to equip dental professionals in the UK with the knowledge and skills necessary to recognize and respond to stroke symptoms, understand the relationship between oral health and systemic conditions contributing to stroke risk, and incorporate prevention strategies into their clinical practice.

Outcomes
The aim of this module is to enable the learner to:
- Recognise the importance of stroke awareness in dental practice.
- Identify stroke symptoms during dental appointments and take appropriate emergency actions.
- Understand the relationship between oral health and systemic conditions linked to stroke risk.
- Integrate stroke prevention strategies into patient care.
Aims
This CPD module relates to the following GDC outcomes:
A - Effective communication with patients, the dental team and others across dentistry, including when obtaining consent, dealing with complaints, and raising concerns when patients are at risk.
B – Effective management of self and effective management of others or effective work with others in the dental team, in the interests of patients providing constructive leadership where appropriate.
C – Maintenance and development of your knowledge and skills within your field(s) of practice.
