The aim of this module is to enable the learner to:
Familiarise yourself with dental anatomy and head and neck physiology for the purpose of assisting in Orthodontic Clinical Assessments. Identify the reasons why malocclusions occur. Understand Angles and Skeletal Classifications. Review Index Of Treatment Needs (IOTN) gradings. Understand common Orthodontic anomalies. Assist in a clinical orthodontic assessment. Describe the types of orthodontic procedures, and how they can be corrected. Deliver post operative advice to patients.
This CPD module relates to the following GDC outcomes: A - Effective communication with patients, the dental team and others across dentistry, including when obtaining consent, dealing with complaints, and raising concerns when patients are at risk. B – Effective management of self and effective management of others or effective work with others in the dental team, in the interests of patients providing constructive leadership where appropriate. C – Maintenance and development of your knowledge and skills within your field(s) of practice. D – Maintenance of skills, behaviours and attitudes which maintain patient confidence in your and the dental professions and put patients’ interests first.
